Don't Bend Sand Regulation Law to Favour Cartels

  OPINION Let us not tinker with the Sand Regulation Law to benefit a cabal of cartels India's famous anti colonial activist Mohandas K. Gandhi is famous for his saying that ' The earth has enough (resources) to satisfy every man's needs but not every man's greed.' Granted, Kitui County is known for some of vast pockets of renewable resources such as Sand due to its countless number of seasonal rivers and streams. The debate has always been; If this resource is harvested and utilized sustainably, in a well structured environment, then it would play three critical roles. 1. The Sand Sector will create jobs and opportunities for thousands of local youths who are jobless. 2. The County Government would earn revenue from the resource, which revenue would then be invested to offer services/development to county residents. 3. Governor Malombe Hogs Public Limelight for Best Performance

By Our Reporter   When Kitui county residents went to the polls and elected Governor Julius Malombe, they were looking for a development conscious person who would lift the county from the bottomless pit where it had been thrown by Kaluki Ngilu and her bandits. Overwhelmingly, the county residents voted for Dr Malombe and ignored the other pretenders who were soiling the governor's ballot paper. And today the county residents are being vindicated. Governor Malombe is being cited among the very top governors across the country in terms of performance, just one year down the line. In the very latest opinion poll conducted by Infrotrak, Governor Malombe has posted an above average rating of 63%, a strong signal that the county is in safe hands.
