President Uhuru Asks for Forgiveness As He Leads Country In Prayers

President Uhuru Kenyatta led the country in a National Prayer Day at State House in Nairobi, Saturday.

The event was graced by dozens of religious leaders who prayed for the country to heal from bad leadership, corruption, nepotism and bad politics.

State officials trickled in early morning in the event officiated by President Uhuru Kenyatta.

When he made his presentation, Archbishop Jackson ole Sapit said Kenyans still have a lot to be grateful for.

His statements come a day after the Health ministry announced the highest number of coronavirus infections since the alleged flattening of the curve in the country.

Speakers called for unity, thanking Uhuru for setting aside the three-day prayer period which started on Friday.

Also present was Deputy President William Ruto, who has in the past missed national government gatherings.

First Lady Margaret Kenyatta and Mama Ngina, together with some members of the Cabinet were present.

The president asked for forgiveness from anybody he had wronged and also sought to forgive those who had wronged him.

Raila Odinga was however missing in the event as he was busy being coronated by a section of Kikuyu elders at a shrine in Bondo.
