'Her Oxygen Levels Had Dropped Dangerously, She Was Gasping For Air'

A doctor who attended to Kaluki Ngilu before she was airlifted to Nairobi on Sunday for critical care attention at a top city hospital has recounted how a team of medics fought to keep the governor breathing after her oxygen levels hit an all time low.

According to the medic who confided in our trusted mole, the governor's oxygen levels had dropped to between 70 and 75  percent and she was struggling to breath. With no oxygen anywhere in Kitui county health facilities, the life of the governor was on the line.

The medics who had been keeping a close watch of the governor since Thursday when she reportedly fell ill had tried to nurse her at home with a regimen of drugs.

But when her oxygen levels began to deteriorate, the medics knew the situation could easily get out of hand. They summoned an Air Ambulance from Nairobi.

A team of flying doctors and two nurses lifted off at Wilson Airport in a small chopper fully equipped with state of the art medical equipment among them a generous supply of oxygen. In less than 45 minutes, the bird touched down at Ngilu's homestead where the governor was immediately whisked to the waiting chopper as nurses got down to supplement her oxygen.

We have reliably established that the governor is at a city hospital where she is under close watch of a team of medics.
