Exposed: Sickening Situation At Kitui Hospital Theatre

As you read this, the theatre at Kitui county referral hospital is itself sick and in shambles.

According to our reliable moles, the theatre is totally unoperational and patients requiring surgical services are being directed to private hospitals within town where they pay expensively for such services.

Is it a collusion by cartels to enrich private hospitals who possibly remit a cut to mbee nzei cartels?

Our desk has established that the facility which should be fully equipped and operating 24/7 lacks key basic commodities such as anaesthetics, gauzes, and others that make a theatre operational. Even the anaesthetic machine is dead.

"The situation is worse. We can't operate on patients because there are no basic requisite commodities. We really sympathize with suffering patients," said a medical officer who described the situation at the hospital as dire and grave.

We established that the operating room has not been in  operation for over two weeks now, throwing into question the competence of Dr Winnie Kitetu, the county minister in charge of health who has not visited to see the deplorable condition at the hospital.

Or is Madam Kitetu just a victim of circumstances at the juakali mbee nzei administration?

1. When will Kitetu tour the facility and ensure that the theatre is equipped with commodities and is medically operational?

2. When will she, as the officer in charge, procure the commodities?

Kept it here.

Coming up:

Exposing a rogue director working at the hospital who is a notorious thigh monger and who has made casuals lives a living hell with his unbecoming conduct. Full report coming up.

Comments

  1. I was at the facility last weekend on 16th January and observed unprofessional conduct by the receptionist who kept patients waiting while they hugged each other and ran for falling mangoes at the parking lot.
The worst and horrible place is down at the facility mortuary, smelling rotten flesh, bodies placed down, very dirty inside, broken refrigerator and the attendants not even bothered because it is normal to them.
Is this the kind of a level 5 facility in Kitui county surely?
