Revealed: Statehouse Night Call Made Kalonzo Attend Interview

Late Night Statehouse Call that made Kalonzo attend running mate interview

Many Kenyans are wondering why Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka had a change of heart and attended the running mate interview Tuesday despite his protests in the past weeks.

Kalonzo and his brigade had insisted that he will not appear at the interviewing panel dismissing it as a joke and beneath his stature.

Even on Monday late evening, Kalonzo and his brigade were resolute that he would not appear at the panel. He was actually scheduled to fly to Juba in South Sudan the same night.

Well today, your authoritative blog can report the intrigues that forced Kalonzo beat a hasty retreat and attend the interview.

Call comes from statehouse

On the night of Monday, just hours to the scheduled date of Kalonzo's interview, president Uhuru Kenyatta called the Wiper boss through his direct hotline and the two engaged in a friendly banter.

According to reliable statehouse moles, the president was upbeat and joked with Kalonzo about his protestations to attend the interview.

"Hallo Steve, how is the going. Mimi naona umekataa hii mambo ya kuhojiwa kabisa..." the president said. "tumekaa ngumu kabisa Mr president...." Kalonzo responded and the two broke into laughter.

It is at this stage that the president announced to Kalonzo that it was in his best interest to attend the interview and indeed convinced him to appear at the panel the following morning.

According to our moles, the two were in friendly banter over the phone and at the end of it, Kalonzo was convinced that he really needed to attend the interview.

Kalonzo then placed a call to Gideon Moi and the two discussed the president's call. Gideon advised Kalonzo to heed to the president's advice.

Will they make him Raila's running mate?
