Trade CO Stephen Musili

(Episode 1)

"KICOTEC bags new police uniforms tender worthy Ksh20M as National Government is assured of transparency by Gov. Malombe's administration"

~ The County Government has rolled out an elaborate strategy to revamp the operations at KICOTEC that was in the past mired in mystery and mismanagement.

The first port of call is to make the business at the textile centre transparent and account for every penny utilized or generated there.

~ This is an assurance to the National Government that they can do transparent business with KICOTEC whose end result would be to benefit the County residents.

👁️Lest you forget, KICOTEC was a good County investment but was hijacked by economic bandits who saw it as a looting front to whet their financial appetites.

Not any more. Governor Malombe's administration is moving fast to ensure that KICOTEC's business is pegged on strict transparency and accountability. The National Government and development partners will only partner with County Governments whose leaders have shown commitment to fight corruption and have displayed an unmistakable desire to serve the public interest.

New police tender
~ On Monday, May 8th - the Kenya Police signed a contract with KICOTEC worthy Ksh20M to make police uniforms. GSU has also indicated a continued partnership with KICOTEC as long as the transactions are transparent and above board.

So what does this mean for Kitui County residents?

~ According to the Chief Officer for Trade, Industry, MSMEs & County EIZs Stephen Musili alias Kivunzi, the business means increased revenue for KICOTEC.

_"This means with more inflow of business, KICOTEC will start making profits and the profits will be ploughed back to the County for use in core County functions with direct impact to the residents"_ explains the CO.

The Chief Officer adds that KICOTEC only needs a cocktail of goodwill, proper marketing and internal restructuring for it to operate at its optimum.

_"That way, it will become self reliant and generate revenue for the County"_ CO Musili states.

~ Currently, KICOTEC has resumed its operations after a long closure during the mbee nzei regime when workers went for months without pay.

Casuals at the garment factory are now engaged on an optimal basis depending on the job at hand.

Experts have advised that the cost of operations must be brought down for the business to turn profits.
