County Government starts rehabilitation of earth dams, starting with Munathi Earth dam in Ikanga/Kyatune Ward in new year
Governor Malombe's administration is continuing with its agenda for water & food security for the county residents.
Over the weekend, Agriculture Chief Officer (CO) Gladys Kivoto was at hand to commission rehabilitation works for Munathi earth dam in Ikanga/Kyatune ward which is a lifeline of thousands of local residents.
Speaking during the event where she was joined by the water director Eng Kennedy Mutati, the sub county water officer Mr Ngiti and a host of area professionals, madam Kivoto emphasized the county government's commitment towards improved water security at household level.
"Governor Malombe's administration is making deliberate efforts to ensure that the county residents have access to water at household level, both for domestic use and also for small scale irrigation farming" stated the CO.
She urged the Ward residents, as well as residents elsewhere across the county to take advantage of water sources within their vicinity to improve their livelihoods through farming.
"Small scale irrigation farming has a two fold effect; to improve food security at home and also grow locals economies" she said.
Since he took over the reins of leadership, Governor Malombe has rolled out a cocktail of water projects across the vast county, all geared towards improving the lives of Kitui residents.
