Why Kalonzo Wanted Dr Mercy Mwangangi To Run In Machakos


Wiper party leader has told of the difficulty he faced while trying to identify the right candidate to run for Machakos senatorial seat on the Wiper party. 

Addressing a church congregation today in Mlolongo, Kalonzo said other than Johnstone Muthama's former wife Agnes Kavindu, he had also settled on health CAS Dr Mercy Mwangangi to fly the party's flag. 

He however said that his idea was shot down by none other than the doctor's mother who is the Machakos county assembly speaker and other relatives who felt uneasy about the unmarried 'girl' dipping her fingers into politics.

"...and I want to confess, I tried everything to come up with a strong candidate. I identified our daughter Mercy Mwangangi but they told me she is not yet married..." Kalonzo said. 

The Wiper leader heaped praises on Dr Mwangangi as a capable leader and challenged young men to seek her hand in marriage, while offering to pay her dowry.

Kalonzo at the same time expressed optimism that Kavindu will win the seat. He added that as soon as Kavindu bags the senator's seat, he will reconcile her with her former husband Muthama.

The fact that he owns a parcel of land within Kitui Municipality should not be a strange thing to anyone. However, what is concerning is when another individual attempts to criminally encroach on and grab Dr Malombe's piece of land, in the hope that he will keep quiet just because he is the governor. This is the most warped thinking ever, and it is anchored on blackmail.  The plot in question is legally owned by Dr Julius Makau Malombe. It was legally allotted to him over 30 years ago.
