Blessings Carnival - Mutia Nzomo's Wife Blesses Children

Agnes and Catherine receive their share of blessings from their mother

Lay Canon Josephine Mutia, the wife of the late business mogul Mutia Nzomo over the weekend took a bold step to bless her children and grandchildren as a way of preparing them for the life ahead.

The event dubbed ‘Matriarch Blessings Carnival ’ was held at the Mutia Nzomo’s home in the outskirts of Kitui town and was officiated by ACK bishop Gideon Muneeni Nzoka.

“It is a great occasion and I’m honoured to be here. Open you heart and bless them all. Forget that which might have angered you in the past” the bishop told the lay canon.

The family matriarch who is now 73 years old announced that she had nothing against anybody and went ahead to bless all.

With a bowl of water held close by her side, she would dip specially prepared mutaa twigs and sprinkle the contents to the stretched arms of the blessees who submissively knelt before her.

She wished them all good life. Some were blessed to excel in businesses; others were blessed to excel in academia while others were blessed to become evangelists of the gospel and servants of the Lord.

“You love business, may you conquer the business world all the way to China,” she said to one.

“And you, I bless you to serve God in church, just like your father did and the way I do,” she said to her daughter Catherine.

“Receive blessings, may you go and find the cure for Corona virus….” she said to her son in law Dr Paul Musango, a reknown pharmacist, who knelt before her alongside his daughter, Dr Kasenga.

The matriarch appealed to her nuclear and extended family that also included inlaws to love and serve God with humility and dedication, telling them that this would open doors for them and give them fulfilling lives.

“I started serving God while I was a small girl. I have seen his miracles, I live like a university graduate yet I’m a class six drop out, it is because of God’s grace. I beseech you to keep close to God and the church,” the grandma told the family.

The culmination of the colourful event was presentation of gifts; some flowing the grandma’s way from her grandchildren while she, presented some to the clergy and a section of the invited guests.

And then there was a colourful jig; as the blessed troupe staged song and dance for the smiling old lady.
