County Assembly opts to Become Partner in KITUI's Development

POINT BLANK

Slightly over one year after Governor Malombe was recalled to office by the county electorate, tangible developments and growth can be witnessed in all corners of the vast County.

Governor Malombe is trying hard, in the most difficult economic times which are characterized by delayed disbursement of county allocations from the national government, to repair the County that had been torn apart and grounded by the previous mbee nzei regime.

For his efforts to transform people's lives through initiating tangible developments, the County residents in their hundreds of thousands have decided to rally behind Kyuma Kya wia, as they fondly refer to their Governor.

The County administration has rolled out a development plan that touches all the 40 Wards of the vast County without discrimination. Some of these life changing projects touch on water security, food security, health provision, roads upgrading, ECDE classrooms and staffing of ECDE centres, investments in Agriculture and cooperative movements, upgrading of major towns such as Kitui, Mwingi, Mutomo and others among many other projects.

Development partners are back...

Governor Malombe's administration has restored back the confidence in development partners who had taken a flight during mbee nzei. In their droves, development partners are coming back to Kitui to partner in development projects ranging from Water to Health to Agriculture.

This transformation journey has also attracted members of Kitui County Assembly (MCAs) who have now vowed to  partner with the County Executive to drive the development agenda. This move has been largely commended by the County residents and the County Assembly leadership led by Speaker Kevin Kinengo who feels that for true development to happen in Kitui, the two arms of the County Government must work together.

Misled voices ....

The MCAs have advised the Governor to focus on his assignment of resurcitating the County from the jaws of abyss and destruction left behind by Kaluki Ngilu and totally ignore any stray noise from misled voices.

To the uninitiated however, this partnership between the County Assembly and County Executive does not whittle down the Assembly's role to oversight. Far from it. The partnership is purely meant to ensure that the County residents get what they deserve in terms of development and progress.

According to the doctrine of separation of powers, the two arms of the County Government are independent but also inter-dependent. And that is the way it should be.

With Governor Malombe at the steering wheel, the development train has indeed left the station. Kitui County is becoming great again.
