Savani Estate within Kitui township is well known. It was once the gem where every prospective land buyer wanted to invest in. Serene environment and spacious lands. But now the Estate is losing its allure. Crooks, thugs and burglars have made the estate their playground. The residents of Savani Estate know no peace. The thieves, who are reported to be armed with machetes, toy guns and other crude weapons strike at night when everybody is asleep. They go for valuables at home compounds. These could be chairs left out at night, chicken and anything of value. But lately, the thieves who operate in a well organized gang have upped their game. They are now targeting private cars. They scale walls at night to access the compounds where vehicles are parked. While inside and armed with hacksaws, sledge hammers and other weapons, they knock off car windows and get in. Kitui's rejectee Kaluki Ngilu is a master crook. A user and dumper of repute and killer of both careers and morale. Sample this. When she nominated some qualified Kitui sons and daughters to fill vacant positions in her juakali government, she enticed the candidates with good titles of their dockets. Through this trickery, she managed to fool both the candidates and even some hard headed MCAs who thought with their people in lucrative departments, it would be better to let the Queen of graft sail through. In what can only be termed as the height of incompetence, rejected and juakali governor Kaluki Ngilu has issued a threat letter to cow striking healthcare workers.  The outgoing governor in the letter has given striking workers 7 days to resume duty without any return to work formula or be fired.  The dumb letter crafted by Kaluki's grave digger Joshua Chepchieng has given the workers up to Monday next week to return to work or face the sack.  "....disciplinary action will be taken against officers who will not have resumed duty including stoppage of salaries and their positions being advertised" the letter by Chepchieng reads.  The sack letter. Kalonzo has come out strongly to put Ruto in his place and in same breath ask for transparency  in his dealings since he entered the national sphere in 1992 as one of Moi's proteges. One time Mutitu MP Kiema Kilonzo on sunday escaped death by a whisker after an irate crowd in Mwingi town went for his throat.  The man was forced to run to his vehicle before the driver sped off at breakneck speed as the locals threatened to lynch him.  Shouting profanities, the locals called Kiema a thief, broker and conman. They then surged forward and and threw missiles at his car. His attempt to bribe the irate crowd with 5000 shillings angered them even more.  Realizing he was on borrowed time, a scared and subdued kiema fled to his car and sped off as the gang insulted him. Former Mutitu MP kiema kilonzo's bid to run for governor's seat seems to have run into rough headwinds. Sunday January 17th 2022, Mwingi residents heckled, booed and jeered the former MP as he drove within Mwingi town.  The bitter residents said the retired MP cannot be trusted with leadership.. Some were heard calling him a broker and other nasty names.  Cursed alongside Kiema was David Kivoto, former Mbee nzei minister who had attempted to sell his doomed candidature. Wiper party leader has told of the difficulty he faced while trying to identify the right candidate to run for Machakos senatorial seat on the Wiper party.  Addressing a church congregation today in Mlolongo, Kalonzo said other than Johnstone Muthama's former wife Agnes Kavindu, he had also settled on health CAS Dr Mercy Mwangangi to fly the party's flag.  He however said that his idea was shot down by none other than the doctor's mother who is the Machakos county assembly speaker and other relatives who felt uneasy about the unmarried 'girl' dipping her fingers into politics. Bodaboda operators and Motorists in Kitui town Thursday staged a major protest over the poor and shoddy road workmanship that is being undertaken by Ngilu's son through a proxy cartel contractor called Kamau alias Kanda.  The road from Mumoni to Kaveta junction is in deplorable state. It is the worst piece of road passing through a major town this side of Sahara.  The road is financed by World bank at Sh200 Million. The tender was awarded to Ngilu's son through Kamau alias Kanda to siphon the funds.  In their bid to steal, the cartels have done a shoddy work that has left everybody including mama mbogas angered. The road has no kerbs for motorists to pull over in case one wants to buy vegetables and there are no parkings.
