Malombe's Health Agenda: Fresh Ksh70 Million Drugs to Power 326 Health Facilities

In a strategic aimed at revamping the health sector, the Kitui County Ministry of Health and Sanitation on Wednesday received a new consignment of drugs and medical supplies worth Ksh 69.7 million.


The timely medical haul, supplied by the Mission for Essential Drugs and Supplies (MEDS), goes to support healthcare services across the county.


Aggrey Kamba, the Chief Officer for Drugs and Medical Supplies, received the consignment, which comprises vital medicines and commodities for the management of cancer, hypertension, and diabetes.


In addition, the delivery includes supplies for specialized units such as the Renal Unit, Intensive Care Unit (ICU), Laboratory Unit, Maternity Unit, Newborn Unit (NBU) and theatres.


Mr. Kamba said the supplies will be distributed to all the 326 health facilities across the county.

“This delivery enhances the county’s capacity to care for patients with chronic and critical conditions. It also reinforces our commitment to ensuring uninterrupted availability of medical supplies across all public facilities,” he said.

The latest delivery comes just a few months after another consignment from KEMSA valued at Ksh 80 million, which was received during the first quarter of the current financial year.

Governor Julius Malombe’s administration has remained steadfast in its commitment to maintaining a steady supply of essential drugs and medical commodities for the benefit of county residents.


Recently, County Health Minister Ruth Koki emphasized the importance of consistent drug supply to the County health facilities, citing growing demand fueled by the public’s increasing faith and trust in the county’s healthcare system.


Timely and quality healthcare services remain a key pillar of Governor Malombe’s agenda to ensure that Kitui residents stay healthy and productive.
