Revealed: Why Kaluki Ngilu Is at Crossroads

Kaluki Ngilu

Former Kitui governor Kaluki Ngilu is at Crossroads. Kaluki Ngilu is facing a dilemma of her lifetime.

Let us give you a context. Last week, Kaluki Ngilu, in a pre -arranged meeting, met some very top people (names withheld) in Kenya Kwanza administration. The meeting was held abroad.

Our reliable moles in the corridors of power have shared with us on the happenings. Kaluki Ngilu has been seeking to work with President Ruto's administration. This explains why she has softened her stance against the president and his administration. Check the tone of her social media lackeys.

But you will ask yourself why Kaluki wants a pie of this government. The answer is simple. PROTECTION! The retired governor is a wanted and haunted woman. As you read this, the EACC has already investigated, completed and recommended for prosecution Ngilu, and some officers in her former regime. The crime? Theft of COVID-19 funds running into hundreds of millions. That investigations is already complete. Take it or leave it.

World Bank funds investigations

Number two. EACC is actively investigating Kaluki over alleged misappropriation of huge funds from the World Bank; money that was channeled towards the construction of Kithomboani market, which has since stalled, leaving the project looking like a bloated ghost.  This investigation is active. You can check with EACC - Machakos office.

That's not all. Kaluki is also being pursued by KRA for tax evasion. Our moles at KRA reliably tell us that the figures are earth shaking. And Kaluki is terrified. Before he died, former Prime Minister Raila Odinga had committed to help Kaluki with her KRA problems since he was part of the broad based government.

For Kaluki, these criminal issues stand out like a sore thumb. They are a pain in the wrong anatomy. And the only way she can politically solve them is by being close to, or part of the Government.

Cabinet slot, or is it?

Back to the abroad meeting. The Kenya Kwanza echelons are reported to be considering Kaluki for a cabinet slot. However, the mandarins want to be sure that she can neutralize Kalonzo at the national level. To some in Kaluki's circle, that proposal looks like a noose being tightened around her neck.

"It's like they want to give her a rope to hang herself on" one of her long time slaves lamented. Kaluki has denied, privately in text messages that we have seen, that she is being considered for a cabinet slot. Skymoon Desk however knows better.

Our credible sources reveal that to bring in Ngilu, blood has to be spilled. Whose blood? Alfred Mutua's. The chapchap guy is living on borrowed time. In KK administration, he has outlived his usefulness.

When he failed to showcase his political strength during the Mumbuni North by election, Mutua's bubble burst. Power brokers with the KK government have concluded that Mutua has no mettle to checkmate Kalonzo at home. For that reason, he is on the chopping board, and his possible replacement is Kaluki. They want her to play the dirty game; divide the Kamba nation for a political morsel.

Caught up in a whirlwind

As juicy as the offer to join the cabinet looks, Kaluki still has butterflies in her belly. She has already declared her intention to run for Kitui's governor's seat. By joining the government and going against the community's kingpin Kalonzo Musyoka, Kaluki's adventure will be akin to a woman walking barefoot on hot charcoal.

Yet still, Kitui residents witnessed Kaluki's regime run down the County with arrant incompetence and reckless pilferage of public funds and are shocked at her audacity to want to come back. Her 5 year tenure proved that Kaluki is a disaster, worse than a deranged typhoon, and should never be placed anywhere near public funds. She is a good politician, maybe a good activist who storms police cells to rescue other activists, but that's all.

Whether or not she joins KK government, that's entirely up to her. What is certain is that Kaluki Ngilu should not come close to Kitui county leadership. She's best at a retirement home.

On which side of the coin will she toss?

Stay tuned.
