Residents of Mwingi West have received a major boost in access to quality healthcare after Governor Julius Malombe commissioned a renovated and fully equipped main theatre at Migwani Level IV Hospital.
The new theatre marks another milestone in the County Government’s deliberate investments aimed at strengthening healthcare services and bringing life-saving treatment closer to the people.
For years, the majority of residents of Mwingi West and neighboring areas had to travel long distances to access specialized surgical services.
With the upgraded theatre now operational, patients will be able to receive critical procedures locally.
This will reduce referral cases and ease the burden on families who previously had to seek treatment far from home.
Governor Malombe said the investment reflects his administration’s commitment to building a strong and people-centered health system across Kitui County.
“Our goal is simple; to leave Kitui a better place than we found it. Quality healthcare should not be a privilege for a few but a right for every resident,” the Governor said. He was flanked by a number of MCAs and top county officials.
Modern kitchen too
In addition to the theatre, the Governor also unveiled a modern hospital kitchen, an important facility that will significantly improve patient nutrition and food safety standards at the hospital.
Proper nutrition is a critical component of recovery, and the new kitchen ensures patients receive safe, well-prepared meals during their stay at the hospital.
Leaders present during the commissioning welcomed the development.
They noted that continued investments in healthcare infrastructure are transforming service delivery in the county.
Area (Migwani) MCA Harrison Maluki praised Governor Malombe for prioritizing healthcare and steadily improving medical facilities across the vast county.
