Eldoret MCA Collapses, Dies


 Prominent Eldoret MCA Peter Chomba collapsed and died as he was being treated at the Eldoret hospital.

Chomba was MCA for Huruma ward which is the largest in Eldoret town and is well known for fighting for the rights of the business community in Eldoret especially hawkers.

Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi was among the first to arrive at the hospital and said the region had lost one of the most dedicated leaders.

"We are so saddened by this sudden and tragic loss of one of our leaders in this region and we join the family in mourning his passing.

A family source said the MCA who was serving his third term had two weeks ago fell in his bathroom and had been undergoing treatment for injuries.

"This morning he felt unwell while at his house and was rushed to hospital where he died as he was being treated", said a family member.

Sudi, Soy MP Caleb Kostany and Deputy Governor for Uasin Gishu Daniel Chemno immediately convened a prayer meeting at the Highlands Hotel to pray for the family of Chomba and the country.

"It's sad that at a time when the president has called for national prayers for our country we have to as as we also mourn our fallen colleague", said Kostany.

Chomba was also a close ally of DP William Ruto.
