The Kalonzo Musyoka led Wiper party has taken a firm stance in the latest wrangles emanating from Kitui County Assembly where a section of MCAs have mooted a motion to impeach the County Minister for Finance Peter Kilonzo alias Tangawizi.
In a strongly worded statement issued on December 2, 2024 by the party's secretary general Shakilla Abdalla, the party advised its MCAs, both elected and nominated against taking part in the malicious impeachment motion.
The party was categorical that the members should not support the ongoing impeachment motion against the Finance, Economic Planning and Revenue Management CEC-M.
"As representatives of Wiper, your actions MUST align with our guiding principles, including promoting inclusivity, accountability and constructive governance. Supporting the motion will contradict our values and harm our collective objectives," the letter which is copied to the party leader Kalonzo Musyoka reads in part.
Through the letter, the Wiper MCAs were therefore advised to abstain from active participation in debating or voting for the impeachment motion.
Majority of Kitui residents support Governor Julius Malombe development and service delivery agenda and have castigated the MCAs for attempting to derail his popular county agenda.
The residents have described the impeachment motion against the Finance minister as a blackmail tactic by the MCAs to armtwist Governor Malombe into MCAs narrow selfish interests. However, a good number of the MCAs are level headed and have refused to be dragged into the selfish wrangles whose only objective is to hurt their voters.
"This motion has nothing to do with Governor Malombe's service delivery. We all agree, even the MCAs, that the Governor has so far done a good job and his projects can be seen across the villages. Why then would the MCAs want to blackmail him?" stated a resident from Kitui East.
The residents have particularly come hard on the Assembly Speaker Kinengo Katisya who seems to be holding the MCAs hostage by promising them non existent goodies while threatening others with expulsion from committees and denial of allowances.
Skymoon Desk urges the MCAs to partner with the Governor and deliver the much needed services to the residents. We also urge for quick adoption of the Governor's well meaning memorandum on the Supplementary Budget 1.
