The County Assembly of Kitui has approved three names of proposed top county officials for appointment by the Governor following a vetting process by the relevant House committee.
The approval clears the way for the formal appointment of the officials to key positions within the county executive.
Those approved for appointment include Agnes Mulewa who is set to substantively occupy the position of the Country Secretary, Timothy Muange as the County Attorney and Christopher Okumu as Secretary, Kitui County Public Service Board.
In his remarks while addressing the media at his office, County Assembly Speaker Kevin Kinengo Katisya said the Assembly remains committed to working closely with the county executive and Governor Dr. Julius Malombe to ensure effective service delivery and smooth governance.
"I want to assure the Governor that we are fully in support of his administration even as we respect the separation of powers" Kinengo said.
"We have looked at the names presented to us, their academic credentials and competencies and are strongly convinced that they fully qualify in their respective positions," the Speaker added.
Kinengo noted that the cooperation between the two arms of government is critical in advancing development and addressing the needs of Kitui residents.
Their approval now awaits formal appointment by the Governor to assume office.
