Governor Malombe commissions Wimbondo solar water project in Mwingi West

Tyaa–Wimbondo–Wikithuki Sump Well Project in Mwingi West is now operational. And the locals can't stop celebrating.


This is courtesy of Governor Dr. Julius Malombe's commitment on water security agenda that has ensured that the residents of Wimbondo and surrounding areas in Mwingi West can now access clean and reliable water.


When the Governor commissioned the life changing projects today, the excited crowd burst out in celebrations and joy, certain that now the water challenge that has troubled them for decades will be a thing of the past. 


The solar powered project, implemented at a cost of KSh13.1 million, is part of Governor Malombe’s ongoing investments in the water sector aimed at strengthening water security across Kitui County.


Currently, the project is supplying clean water to over 200 households in Wimbondo area and Wimbondo Primary School.


Plans are already underway to extend the water supply to Wikithuki.


This initiative reflects the County Government’s commitment to expanding access to clean and safe water while ensuring development reaches communities fairly and equitably across the county.


Through strategic investments in sustainable water projects, Dr. Malombe's administration continues to improve livelihoods, reduce the burden of water scarcity and drive grassroots development.


The Governor was accompanied by top county government officials and a section of elected leaders.
