Governor Malombe Makes Karung'a Water Secure

Residents of Karung'a in Kivou Ward, Mwingi Central Constituency, have every reason to smile after Governor Dr. Julius Malombe commissioned the Karung'a Community Water Project Friday.


This is a transformative investment that is set to end years of water scarcity and improve the livelihoods of hundreds of families in Mwingi Central. 


The project, which draws water from the Karung'a Earth Dam, now supplies clean and safe water to Karung'a Market, Karung'a Senior School, a communal water kiosk, and more than 210 households through individual water connections.


This marks a major milestone in the county government's commitment to ensuring universal access to safe drinking water.


The water project is yet another demonstration of Governor Malombe's unwavering resolve to fulfil his development agenda by delivering practical, life-changing projects that directly improve the lives of wananchi.


Under Governor Malombe leadership, access to clean water has remained a top priority, with communities across Kitui increasingly becoming water secure through strategic investments in water infrastructure.


For the people of Karung'a, the project promises more than just clean water. It will reduce the burden on women and children who previously trekked long distances in search of water, improve sanitation and public health, support learning in schools, boost business activities at the local market, and stimulate economic growth in the area.


"Under my administration no community is left behind in the county's development journey.  Access to clean and reliable water is fundamental to improving the quality of life and unlocking socio-economic opportunities" Governor Malombe said. 


The event was attended by Members of the County Executive, Kivou Ward MCA Hon. Sammy Munyithya and residents who turned up in large numbers to witness the commissioning of the transformative project.


With projects such as the Karung'a Community Water Project, Governor Malombe continues to cement his legacy as a development-focused leader whose investments are bringing lasting change and making communities across Kitui more resilient and prosperous.
