The essential medical stock, sourced from the Kenya Medical Supplies Authority (KEMSA), arrived at the Kitui County Level IV Hospital this morning, and was received by the facility's deputy medical superintendent Dr. Patrick Muthini.
The delivery of medicine and other medical consumables signals a continued commitment by Governor Malombe's administration to ensuring that quality healthcare is accessible and affordable for all residents.
Speaking after receiving the KEMSA delivery, Dr. Muthini noted that the drugs are designed to cater for a wide spectrum of health needs across the county.
"This delivery is a major relief for our facility," said Dr. Muthini. "We have received drugs to treat a variety of ailments, ranging from communicable to non-communicable diseases."
The supplies include critical medications for managing chronic conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, and cancer, alongside general treatments.
Beyond pharmaceuticals, the consignment also included essential lab consumables for diagnosis and radiology items, ensuring that diagnostic services at the facility remain uninterrupted.
Another consignment of drugs was also delivered to the Mwingi Level IV Hospital today.
This delivery is not an isolated incident but part of a broader strategic effort by Governor Malombe’s administration.
The Governor has committed to ensuring that all county facilities are fully equipped.
According to the county's distribution plan, the next two weeks will see a massive rollout where all 340 health facilities across Kitui County will be restocked.
Dr. Muthini also took the opportunity to urge residents to take advantage of the Social Health Authority (SHA) program.
This latest development underscores Governor Malombe's unwavering commitment to the health and well-being of Kitui residents.
